Tiger Woods limped his way through four rounds of The Masters last weekend and Rick Shiels has some questions for the legendary golfer.
Woods made the cut at Augusta but in the end, simply fell away as the days went on as dead last out of the players to make it to the third and fourth round.
The 15-time major winner is trying to play through the pain and compete in the majors when they roll around.
However, despite showing some decent touch in the opening two rounds at The Masters, it was abundantly clear that Woods was struggling with injuries as the tournament progressed.
As time ticked by, Woods appeared to be in more and more pain as the limp and hobble became more apparent.
But speaking on the Rick Shiels Golf Show, popular YouTube star Rick Shiels has questioned the legitimacy of Woods’ condition when the going gets tough.

Rick Shiels suggests Tiger Woods shows more pain when he’s playing badly
Speaking about Woods after seeing him live and up close at Augusta last weekend, Shiels suggested that Woods seems to be in more pain when he’s not playing too well.
“I do think – and again this might be a conspiracy theory – I do certainly think he shows and plays up to the pain when he’s not playing well.
“Like, when he’s playing well, he’s not in pain, you don’t see him hobbling. As soon as he’s playing bad, he’s hobbling along, he is. I’m not calling him a liar but if I had a history of injuries and thought I’m playing bad, I’ll get the old hobble out…”, Shiels said.
Tiger Woods should call it a day if 2024 remains a struggle
There’s an element of being tongue-in-cheek with Shiels’ comments here but in a way, he’s saying what a few people are thinking.
There is an element of Woods looking like he’s in more pain when his game starts to dip away.
Of course, the two might be linked, with Woods’ game slipping as the pain gets worse.
For Woods, 2024 could be a big year really. As discussed on the pod here, it’s becoming a hard watch for golf fans seeing one of the all-time greats struggle so much.
If Woods cannot improve or make some sort of challenge in the other three majors this year, then it might well be time for him to call it a day.
