LIV star Anthony Kim was really pleased with one part of his game after his first round at Sentosa Golf Club.

The 38-year-old, who is starring in his first season on the breakaway tour, has endured a tough 2024 thus far.

To date, Kim’s highest finish came in Hong Kong. In Jeddah, Miami, and Adelaide, the former Ryder Cup hero finished dead last.

However, there were some green shoots of recovery at LIV Golf’s Singapore event on Friday. Kim’s two-under 69 marks his second-lowest round since his return to the sport, sitting alongside two-time major winner Jon Rahm in the standings.

Regardless of his decision to return via LIV Golf, fans all over the world will be delighted to see the three-time PGA Tour winner back posting under-par rounds.

Kim has admitted he was really impressed with one part of his game after the conclusion of his round at Sentosa.

He said [via his personal X account]: “Score could have been much better but best ball striking round since getting back into golf. Looking forward not only to the next 2 days but the rest of the year. Can’t thank my supporters enough for the love I have been shown.”

Anthony Kim really needed that round at Sentosa Golf Club

Here’s a good news story if we’ve ever seen one. Kim fell into golfing limbo for over 12 years after suffering from an Achilles problem.

As the years went on, it’s fair to say the American almost became a cult figure; where had he gone? Would he ever feature again in the professional game?

LIV, of course, has had its critics, but the Saudi-backed venture has offered Kim a lifeline, something he must grab.

For now, there’s certainly interest in his performances, but, like everything in life, the novelty will soon wear off for those watching around the world.

Entertainment is at the crux of LIV’s identity. Greg Norman and Co. won’t tolerate continuous sub-par performances. For Kim’s sake, a top-20 finish, at the very least, is required in Singapore.
