Lucas Glover is not happy at all with golf’s governing bodies right now.

Glover is well-known for his outspoken views on the game of golf in general, and the rules imparted by the USGA and the R&A.

The 45-year-old, who has six PGA Tour wins to his name, is never shy about nailing his colours to the mast when it comes to disputing the way things are done on tour.

Glover is a fierce advocate for a quicker pace of play on the PGA Tour, and he’s definitely right about that.

The man from Greenville, South Carolina, recently laid out a plan of how the tour needs to tackle slow play.

He has also been an outspoken critic of the Aim Point putting method in the past.

Now Glover has made his views on another specific issue very clear indeed.

Angry Lucas Glover demands change from golf’s governing bodies

Before the start of the PGA Championship, Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler were forced to change clubs after their drivers were deemed to be non-conforming.

That is something that happens pretty much every week on tour.

However, the big issue is that not every player competing is tested each week.

And when speaking on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio, Glover urged golf’s governing bodies to make some changes.

He said, “We’re not all playing under the same umbrella at these majors, unless we did test everybody. So we got LIV guys, we got other tour guys, we got tons of different players and tours being represented at the four biggest tournaments of the year. So why doesn’t everybody get tested at every major? And why don’t we somehow try to make sure it’s the driver being used. We should all be held under the same rules at all four events. Everybody should be tested for equality, if we’re going to have all of these tours and all of these people coming together. So let’s test drivers, let’s test lies on putters, let’s drug test, let’s test everything to make sure everybody is on the same page. If that costs X amount of dollars, great, let’s do it. These organisations have got plenty, look at the tents they build every week. If we’re going to be on an equal playing field, let’s make sure we’re playing under the same rules.”

Lucas Glover is spot on about driver testing rule change

By testing only a certain percentage of golfers before the big events, the USGA, the R&A, and LIV Golf are facilitating players competing against each other on an uneven playing field.

McIlroy and Scheffler were forced to switch drivers before the start of the PGA Championship last week, but there could have been plenty of other players who actually had non-conforming drivers in their bags, who weren’t tested before the start of the event.

Something has to change, and quickly.

The biggest golf tournaments in the world obviously need to take place on an even playing field.

As Glover said, that is simply not happening right now. Hopefully change is brought into place very soon, because the way things are done currently is just not fair.
