Tiger Woods continues his absence from the PGA Tour this week, with the US Open the latest event in the schedule.
It is, however, LIV Golf player Bryson DeChambeau who enters the US Open at Oakmont as the defending champion.
DeChambeau edged out PGA Tour player Rory McIlroy at Pinehurst last year, winning the major championship for a second time.
Those wins have helped him join an exclusive list of multiple US Open winners, which legendary figure Woods is also on.
The 49-year-old has won a stunning 15 majors throughout his glittering career, second only to the 18 of Jack Nicklaus.

Alan Shipnuck says if Tiger Woods can overtake Sam Snead for PGA Tour wins
Woods is, however, joint-top of the all-time PGA Tour champions list, where he is joined by Sam Snead on 82.
The likelihood of the former moving ahead of the latter has now been discussed by American sportswriter Alan Shipnuck, who was asked on Dan on Golf if Woods can get one more and pass Snead.

“Can Tiger walk 30 miles in four days?” responded Shipnuck. “Which is basically what tournament golf is.
“Not even talking about practice rounds. That is the question. Really we are six months away from Tiger turning 50, so it will be interesting to see if he will play senior golf in a cart.
“He has always been disdainful of a cart on the PGA Tour, but on the senior tour where it’s just a regular part of the competition that is going to be fascinating.

“Tiger at the Senior Open, the Senior British on some great venues. That to me is a more interesting question.
“I just don’t think that he can physically take the time to prepare for a golf tournament and get his game sharp and then walk all those miles. I think the answer is no. I don’t think he is going to do it on the PGA Tour.”
Tiger Woods vs Sam Snead PGA Tour win record
Woods and Snead have both gone down as golfing legends, with their 82 PGA Tour win record not likely to be surpassed anytime soon.
But being at the very top of the list may just motivate the former, even with his constant injury issues of late.
| Player | Wins | Majors | Winning span |
| Sam Snead | 82 | 7 | 1936–1965 |
| Tiger Woods | 82 | 15 | 1996–2019 |
Achilles tendon surgery was his most recent undertaking, with a recovery date for the golfing legend still up in the air.
He will, however, still likely be keeping a close eye on the action this week, with his former rival Phil Mickelson among a star-studded US Open field.
Scottie Scheffler is also taking on Oakmont, having recently won his third major championship at the PGA Championship.
Jason Day thinks Scheffler is less theatrical than Woods on the course, with the current world number one now sitting on a superb 16 PGA Tour wins.
