Akshay Bhatia has shared what he plans to lean on as he looks to get across the line and win the Rocket Mortgage Classic on Sunday.

Akshay Bhatia is tied for the lead with Aaron Rai at Detroit Golf Club, while a host of players are in contention, with the top 18 players all within five shots of the lead.

Where Bhatia perhaps has an advantage over the rest of the field is that the 22-year-old has already won on the PGA Tour this season, having clinched the Valero Texas Open title back in April.

Bhatia is actually yet to make a bogey this week, so it will be very interesting to see how he responds if his final round does not get off to the best start. Many have faltered when seemingly in a commanding position on the final day.

“I know I can win, I know I have the game and there’s anything I can lean on, it’s being uncomfortable’s okay. I love it, I enjoy it, so I’m just going to keep using that in my favour,” he said.

So many in serious contention

Bhatia’s confidence will leave many confident that he will get the job done; but when you look down the leaderboard, there are so many players who look to have fantastic opportunities.

Aaron Rai has shown glimpses throughout the season and still finished inside the top 20 despite an underwhelming final round at the US Open.

Cameron Young recently shot a 59 and it is remarkable to think that he has still not yet won on the PGA Tour. And no player in the field could match the 65 from amateur Luke Clanton in the third round in Michigan.

Bhatia is definitely well-placed to get the job done, but he will know just how good he will need to be to secure that second win.
