Adam Scott was in fine form on day three of the Travelers Championship on Saturday.
Scott fired a round of eight-under par at TPC River Highlands to catapult himself up the leaderboard on moving day.
Scott’s round of 62 on day three of the Travelers Championship consisted of seven birdies, an eagle and a bogey.
The Australian was in contention to win the US Open last week before falling away on the final day at Oakmont.

Scott’s fellow PGA Tour pros are said to be astounded by how long he still hits it off the tee.
And there aren’t many better ball strikers than the 44-year-old.
However, his putting has always let him down at crucial points during championships.
Adam Scott opens up on terrible shot he hit during third round 62 at the Travelers
Not everything went to plan for Scott during his third round 62 at TPC River Highlands on Saturday.
There was one shot he hit that was so bad it actually shocked him, in spite of his obvious all-round improvements.
He improved his score from Friday by 10 strokes. On round two, he averaged a ridiculously poor 2.15 putts per green hit in regulation.
But on Saturday, he got that number down to 1.53.
The Australian responded when asked how he managed to turn around his putting after a poor day on the greens during his second round on Friday.
He replied: “I mean if I started talking to you about how you manage these parts of the game you would think we’re all crazy. But I didn’t even feel like I had a problem putting yesterday. Yeah, I hit one off the green, but it was windy and quick. I hit good putts and they didn’t go in. Like nothing felt bad, other than they missed, they lipped out and they burned the edges and they added up to be a lot, it’s super annoying. I don’t get discouraged by that because it doesn’t feel bad. It’s different if like — I hit a putt today that’s the worst putt I’ve hit in recent memory, and it’s one of my better rounds and that bothers me more than yesterday.

“Such a bad putt. I got so in my own head trying to do something on that putt and it completely jammed me up. But you do need a trigger, I think, to change it. You can’t do the same stuff and expect a different result. I had a quick, actually had a quick chat with Trevor this morning about it on the putting green and he just gave me something else to think of, and that worked until I actually really thought of it on that one putt and got in my own way. But it was really good today. I didn’t really change anything technically, other than just something to allow a bit more freedom.“
Adam Scott shares what he ‘can’t believe’ about TPC River Highlands
The 44-year-old has given himself a great chance of finishing inside the top-10 at TPC River Highlands this week.
The golf course is definitely playing a lot harder than it has done in previous seasons.
And Scott was asked whether TPC River Highlands is harder to score on this week than it has been previously.
He said: “Yeah, although I think the rough certainly in areas is longer than I’ve ever seen it here. So, down the right of 1 on Thursday I kind of hit a pretty okay tee shot, just in the rough, and like was hacking. I’m like, I can’t believe this. But, yes, generally it is. The way my year’s gone, where I’ve played not up to scratch, when you play the Signature Events and the majors and a couple other tough events through Florida, like it’s hard to break par. I feel like I haven’t really broken par very much. I haven’t been playing horrible, but I haven’t been playing great. So it’s nice to have a round like today where you get it going a little bit.“
Since 2017, there has been only one occasion when a score worse than 17-under par has won.
| Year | Winning score |
| 2024 | -22 |
| 2023 | -23 |
| 2022 | -19 |
| 2021 | -13 |
| 2020 | -19 |
| 2019 | -17 |
| 2018 | -17 |
Nine-under par led after two rounds this year.
But after Scott’s 62 at the Travelers Championship on Saturday, the golf course will clearly be more gettable for the leaders.
A score of around 18 to 20-under par will probably win this week.
