The Masters have announced three players have now accepted special invitations to compete at Augusta National this year, with one 25-year-old LIV Golf star amongst them.
For many, particularly those of us in the United Kingdom, The Masters marks the official start of the golf season. And we are now less than two months away from watching Jon Rahm defend his title in Georgia.
Of course, The Masters is one of the sport’s most unique events. And many will argue that it is their favourite major given that there is seemingly a moment of history associated with almost every single blade of perfectly cut grass.
Joaquin Niemann receives special invite for The Masters
And once again, it will be very interesting to see how some of the LIV stars compete against the best the PGA Tour and DP World Tour has to offer.

Rahm, Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia, Bryson DeChambeau and Cameron Smith will be amongst the field at Augusta.
And another LIV name will also get a chance to impress, with The Masters confirming on X that Joaquin Niemann has accepted an invite, alongside Thorbjorn Olesen and Ryo Hisatsune.
Chilean looks like a future major champion
It is not a surprise to see Niemann in the field. He finished in the top 20 in last year’s tournament. And he has already secured a win this season, beating Sergio Garcia in a play-off at Mayakoba in LIV’s curtain-raiser.
Hisatsune was the rookie of the year on the DP World Tour last year.
Olesen’s best finish at The Masters came back in 2013, when he finished tied for sixth. He will actually be making his first appearance since 2019 and only his second since 2014 in April.
