LIV Golf currently has numerous Ryder Cup stars among their ranks.

Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson were powerhouses for the United States Ryder Cup team, while Bryson DeChambeau is the current man of the moment over at LIV.

Then we have European stalwarts Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter, with current stars Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton leading the Ryder Cup charge for the LIV stars.

Another former Ryder Cup player has just attempted to qualify for a card with the Saudi-backed golf league in 2026.

What should LIV Golf change for you to give them full world ranking points?

Do you think it’s now time their events were recognised by the OWGR?

The LIV Golf Promotions 2026 event is taking place this week at Black Diamond Ranch in Florida.

And there are plenty of big names in the field.

With round one at Black Diamond Ranch in the books, things are already starting to heat up.

Canadian Richard T. Lee is out in front on his own after posting a fine round of 64.

He leads by three from Englishman Charlie Forster and American Chase Koepka, brother of five-time major champion Brooks.

Those who shot even-par or worse missed the cut while Albert Eckhardt experienced a particularly torrid day out on the course, posting a round of 83.

Chris Wood – who represented the European Ryder Cup team at Hazeltine in 2016 – was one of the more high-profile entrants at Black Diamond Ranch.

And the Englishman endured a real up-and-down day.

How Chris Wood got on during day one of the LIV Golf Promotions 2026

The 38-year-old has endured plenty of mental health issues over the past few years, stemming from his sometimes unmanageable anxiety.

Is this the end of LIV Golf?

Wood has spoken very openly about those issues and all credit to him for doing just that. We all wish him well in his future endeavours.

However, his next step in golf remains unclear right now.

The Englishman missed the cut on day one in Florida by just one stroke after shooting a round of even-par 70, following 10 pars, four birdies and four bogeys.

So, it will be a case of going back to the drawing board for the former Ryder Cup star.

Whether he will pursue his ambition to be a part of the LIV Golf league remains to be seen. Perhaps some starts on the DP World Tour will be the next viable step for Wood.
