20-year-old Moroccan golfer Adam Bresnu has made DP World Tour history at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.

A stacked field, including Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Jon Rahm and Patrick Reed, has descended on Emirates Golf Club this weekend in what is one of the DP World Tour‘s Rolex Series events.

The Majlis Course will provide a stern test, and European Ryder Cup hopeful Viktor Hovland struggled on day one, and LIV Golf star Rahm shot 77 (five over) on day two to miss the cut.

Bresnu, however, is one player who will make the weekend.

After shooting rounds of 73 and 69 at Emirates Golf Club, Bresnu sits at two under and has become the first Arab golfer to make the cut in a Rolex Series event.

The 20-year-old amateur made four birdies and dropped just one shot on Friday to confirm his weekend spot.

Before this week’s event, Bresnu told Golf Digest: “It’s amazing to be here at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic! I’ve played in a lot of professional tournaments as an amateur, and I played well in my last one, the Saudi International, where I finished sixth. But this event is much bigger – it’s a Rolex Series event, the environment, the players, and everything here is just incredible.

“This is only my second time in Dubai. The first was just two months ago when I won the Pan Arab Championship at Al Zorah Golf Club, but as you can see right here, this Dubai skyline is incredible.”

Bresnu currently attends Odessa College in Texas but is set to transfer to Texas Tech in 2025.

Three other standout players on day two of Dubai Desert Classic

Away from Bresnu’s history-making round, there was some eye-catching scoring at Emirates Golf Club on Friday.

Australian Danie Hillier raced into the lead at 11 under after carding a seven-under 65, which included five birdies and an eagle on the par-five 18th.

Former LIV golfer Laurie Canter is eight under after posting back-to-back 68s. Aussie Min Woo Lee also carded one of the rounds of the day (six under) and is four shots back of the lead. European Ryder Cup hopeful Rasmus Hojgaard is at the same number after shooting 66.
