It would be an understatement to say that golf would be significantly easier if everyone could drive the ball like Bryson DeChambeau.
Bryson DeChambeau has become perhaps the best driver of the golf ball on the planet in recent years. As shown by Data Golf, the Crushers captain was, by far, the top performer for strokes gained off the tee on LIV Golf in 2025.
Do you think golfers should receive a free drop from divots in the fairway?
DeChambeau may not have a golf swing which would be described as aesthetically pleasing, but there is no question that the two-time US Open champion is lethal with the driver in his hands.
And he has previously suggested the one common mistake most amateurs make when they are on the tee.
Bryson DeChambeau suggests a common mistake amateurs make with the driver
From the outside, few players appear to go into more depth and detail with their games than DeChambeau.
That mindset allowed DeChambeau to transform his game from late 2019. His decision to add considerable speed to his swing certainly seemed to force a number of his peers to try and head down a similar path.

Plenty of amateurs will have also attempted to be a little more like DeChambeau. But swinging faster does not necessarily lead to better results.
And when asked by Golf.com in 2024 what the most common mistake amateurs make with the driver is, DeChambeau outlined how important timing is.
“They don’t hit the swing hard at the right time. They may be swinging hard at the top of the swing, but they don’t swing hard all the way through the ball. As a result, they’re swinging hard at the wrong time,” he said.
Bryson DeChambeau’s remarkable driving statistics on LIV Golf in 2025
What is truly remarkable about DeChambeau’s long game is how often he finds the fairway.
It will not surprise anyone to know that he was second for driving distance on LIV Golf in 2025, with only Joaquin Niemann hitting the ball further.
| Position | Player | Average driving distance (yards) |
| 1 | Joaquin Niemann | 330.4 |
| 2 | Bryson DeChambeau | 328.8 |
| 3 | Dean Burmester | 327.6 |
| 4 | David Puig | 325.3 |
| 5 | Peter Uihlein | 324.6 |
However, DeChambeau was also 14th for fairways hit.
If DeChambeau can become anywhere near as good with his irons, he is going to be a real threat in 2026.
He will be optimistic that he can add a third major title to his résumé next year.
