Max Homa has played really well during his first two rounds at the John Deere Classic.
Homa has displayed some hugely encouraging signs, and he heads into the weekend at the John Deere Classic with every chance of securing his first win in just under two-and-a-half years.
At the start of last month, Homa said that he is swinging the golf club better than ever. Well, now he might be.
On Thursday after he fired a 63 at the John Deere Classic, Homa revealed that he found something on the range before the start of the John Deere Classic.
The 34-year-old’s swing really does seem to be in the groove.
He is hitting it long and straight off the tee, and his iron play seems to be really on point.
Homa would still like to make more putts from 10-15 feet than he has been doing, but the more confident he becomes, the more he will improve on the greens.
The six-time PGA Tour winner finished with a bogey on day two at TPC Deere Run, and he looked incredibly disappointed just after holing out for a five.
However, that bogey may well be a blessing in disguise for the man from Burbank, California.

Homa missed his 12-foot putt for par on his final hole of the day.
As a result, he dropped out of a tie for the lead after two rounds of the John Deere Classic.
However, that missed putt might just be the best thing that happened to him in the long-run.
There is huge pressure on Homa’s shoulders to produce the goods over the weekend in Silvis, Illinois.
He has more wins than anyone else in and around the top of the John Deere Classic leaderboard, and it has been too long since his last victory.
However, Homa alleviated some of the pressure on him by missing his putt for par on the 18th green on Friday evening.
By dropping down to 11-under par after bogeying his final hole, Homa fell back into the second last group out on Saturday.
Any touring professional will tell you that the pressure in the final group on a Saturday or Sunday hits completely differently to anything else.
Homa is bang in the limelight after his first two rounds, there’s no getting away from that. However, the fact that he won’t be last out on Saturday will potentially really work in his favour.

Prior to the John Deere Classic, Homa’s season had been incredibly grim.
His only top-25 finish in 2025 came at The Masters back in April.

If the six-time PGA Tour winner manages to just see this one through, and ends up winning, it would be a vitally important week for him.
However, if Homa doesn’t win, it will be crucial for him to play solidly over the final two rounds of the John Deere Classic.
He needs as much confidence as he can get right now, and a couple of rounds in the mid 60s at TPC Deere Run over the next two days would do him the world of good.
