Rasmus Hojgaard is one of the most notable names set to get the chance to tee it up on the PGA Tour next year, with the Dane finishing second on the Race to Dubai on Sunday.

Many who have followed the DP World Tour in the last few years will feel that it was inevitable that Rasmus Hojgaard would get the chance to play on the PGA Tour at some stage in the near future. Rory McIlroy admitted last week that he thought Hojgaard would represent Europe in the Ryder Cup before his twin brother Nicolai.

However, it was Nicolai Hojgaard who earned a PGA Tour card last year while also playing for Luke Donald’s side in Rome. But his brother will now get the chance to join him stateside.

Rasmus Hojgaard won the Irish Open earlier this year, while McIlroy could not shake him off for the majority of the final round at the DP World Tour Championship at the weekend.

It appears that Hojgaard has frightening potential. But talent alone does not decide whether a player manages to thrive in a new environment.

Where Rasmus Hojgaard’s 2024 DP World Tour stats would leave him on the PGA Tour

Using some of the statistics from Hojgaard’s season could prove slightly misleading, but perhaps they do provide an early indication as to how he may fare on the PGA Tour.

With that in mind, here is a look at some of Hojgaard’s numbers from this season and where those same numbers would leave him on the PGA Tour in 2024.

Driving

The big weakness in Hojgaard’s game right now is his driving accuracy, with the 23-year-old hitting the fairway with just over half of his drives. That leaves him down in 155th place on the DP World Tour – and would not be enough to even make the top 180 on the PGA Tour.

There is better news on driving distance, with Hojgaard in the top 10 on both sides of the Atlantic.

Approach play

Another strength of Hojgaard’s game is his approach play, with the youngster hitting the green in regulation more than 70 percent of the time. He finds himself in the top 25 on the DP World Tour, and it would have been a similar story on the PGA Tour.

Sand saves

Hojgaard has a brilliant touch around the greens, with his sand save percentage just a touch under 70 percent. There is just one PGA Tour player, Carl Yuan, who boasts a better record from the traps this year than Hojgaard.

Putting

The golfing world saw the best and the frustrating sides of Hojgaard’s putting over the weekend at the DP World Tour Championship, with the Dane making six birdies in his first eight holes on Saturday.

Unfortunately, that was not the case on Sunday. Hojgaard took 33 putts in round four – seven more than the previous day. So perhaps it is not surprising that he would be just outside of the top 50 on the PGA Tour for putts per round.
