To many people, no golfer has ever been better than Tiger Woods was in the 2000 season.

Tiger Woods won nine times in 2000, including the final three majors of the year. He finished fifth at The Masters.

How many wins do you think 2000’s Tiger Woods would have if playing in 2025?

And how would it impact Scottie Scheffler's incredible year?

Of course, the US Open was won by 15 shots, while he was eight clear of anyone else at St Andrews the following month.

Golf would have to wait until Scottie Scheffler came along for someone to be as dominant as Woods had been. With that, the question often is just how good is Scheffler compared to the 15-time major champion.

How 2000’s Tiger Woods would perform if playing in the 2025 season

Obviously, we will never know for certain how Woods at his peak would fare in the current game.

But certain statistics do allow us to speculate. With that, we have asked Google Gemini just how many wins Woods would have in 2025 if he was playing at the same level as 2000.

Interestingly, it seems that Woods’ number of victories would drop ever so slightly. According to Gemini, he would have six to eight victories in 2025.

He would also not be quite as prolific in the majors, winning one or two.

This is due to the level of competition being considered a lot higher than it was in 2000.

Woods averaged 298 yards off the tee in the first season of the new millennium. That left him second on the PGA Tour.

Gemini has suggested that he would remain in the top five if he was using the modern equipment, averaging over 325 yards.

The number of wins Scottie Scheffler would have in 2025 if he was battling Tiger Woods at his peak

It is impossible to not wonder what the impact would be on Scheffler if Woods ended up winning around eight times in 2025.

The current world number one boasted six victories this year, including at the PGA Championship and The Open Championship.

And given Woods’ freakish ability to step up in the big moments, Scheffler would almost certainly suffer.

Gemini has suggested that the 29-year-old would end the year with three victories, including one major – with the PGA Championship backed to be his most likely win.

And the program provided two key reasons why Woods would likely have the edge over his countryman.

It writes: “The Putting Gap: 2000 Tiger was arguably the greatest clutch putter in history. Scheffler, despite massive improvements with the Spider Tour X, still has occasional ‘flat’ weeks on the greens. Tiger’s floor was higher because his putting rarely failed him.

The ‘Closer’ Instinct: In 2000, if Tiger held a lead after 54 holes, he was statistically 100% likely to win. Scheffler has become a ruthless closer, but Tiger’s psychological ‘aura’ in 2000 forced opponents into more mistakes.

It is a fascinating insight. It is telling that Scheffler still holds his own against arguably the greatest golfer to have ever played the game.

And what is frightening to think about is the idea that there may be even more to come from Scheffler in the years to come.
