Scottie Scheffler is a truly exceptional golfer and the fact that he has been drawing comparisons with Tiger Woods recently shows just how special he is.
Scheffler is the closest thing we have seen to Tiger Woods since the 15-time major winner’s prime.
The 29-year-old has won 20 PGA Tour events, including four major championships over the past four years.
Do you think Scottie Scheffler will beat Tiger Woods’ consecutive cuts record?
He's not even halfway there right now…
It’s little wonder why Scottie Scheffler has drawn comparisons with Tiger Woods.
It will be incredibly difficult for Scheffler to get anywhere near Woods’ PGA Tour wins record (82) and his haul of 15 major championships.
However, it definitely won’t be impossible for the current world number one.
Perhaps Woods’ most impressive record is 142 consecutive PGA Tour cuts made. Scheffler himself has 66, and that streak is still active.
The man from Dallas, Texas, has another remarkable active streak ongoing – one that Woods didn’t come close to matching during his career.
Tiger Woods couldn’t match Scottie Scheffler’s active PGA Tour streak
The American finished his third round at the WM Phoenix Open on eight-under-par after shooting a 67 on Saturday.

Scheffler is currently sitting in a tie for 16th with one round remaining.
Incredibly, a top-10 finish in Phoenix would be Scheffler’s 17th in a row on the PGA Tour.
Tiger Woods managed 11 consecutive top-10 finishes from 2007 to 2008.
Scheffler has already eclipsed Woods’ tally with 16 to his name (17 if you include the Hero World Challenge).
However, he still trails the late great Byron Nelson by an astonishing 49!
Is Scottie Scheffler more likely to end up with 50 PGA Tour wins and 10 majors or 25 wins and 5 majors?
Have we already seen the best of Scottie Scheffler?
Nelson recorded 65 consecutive top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour during a four-year span from 1942 to 1946.
Next up is Ben Hogan with 27 while Scheffler is sitting in third on the illustrious list.
Jack Nicklaus is in fourth place with 13 consecutive top-10 finishes (twice), with Woods in fifth.
Scottie Scheffler’s startling consistency
Incredibly, the last time that Scheffler finished outside the top-10 was way back in March 2025, at The Players Championship.
It’s fair to argue that Scheffler’s consistency is actually his superpower but, somehow, that doesn’t seem to do him justice.

Make no mistake, Scheffler has not been anywhere near his best at TPC Scottsdale this week.
However, he has still managed to post a very solid three-round total.
The 29-year-old looked completely lost during his first round in the desert on Thursday, and for him to still have a chance of securing yet another top-10 finish is truly remarkable.
Scheffler may not catch Woods’ record of 82 PGA Tour wins.
He probably won’t usurp the great man’s tally of 15 majors either.
However, Scheffler stands alone among current players when it comes to consecutive top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour, and he could increase his current streak to an incredible 17 with a round in the 60s on Sunday.
