LIV Golf have made quite the splash in the world of golf but since they lured Jon Rahm on huge money, their signings have been relatively low key.

The likes of Tom McKibbin and Anthony Kim were both eye-catching in their own way but in the main, we’ve not seen a true ‘superstar’ make the move since Rahm.

However, with spaces on rosters set to open up and a number of players at LIV franchises out of contract, there is now a chance for the breakaway tour to make their mark again.

Of course, that will mean making a move on the PGA Tour and looking to lure certain stars.

Sure, for now, the PGA Tour are not overly worried about LIV and with talks at a standstill on any potential deal, things seem calm.

But that doesn’t mean that the TOUR could lose some big names and if they do lose big, the impact will be felt.

Here, then, are three golfers the PGA Tour should be concerned about losing.

Three PGA Tour players who could join LIV Golf in 2026

While there won’t be any major worries from the powers that be if players do move from the PGA Tour to LIV, there will still be an impact.

As we’ve seen with the likes of Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and others, certain top names in the sport simply draw eyeballs.

For the PGA Tour, they’ve got the best players in the world in Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler and barring a miracle, neither of those will move to LIV.

But in terms of others, there’s potential there for a number of PGA mainstays to move on.

Hideki Matsuyama

There has been talk of Matsuyama going to LIV Golf before and on the surface, it’s a smart signing for them.

LIV are looking to grow the game in different countries and landing a true superstar from a country like Japan only helps them with that mission.

Having already won the Masters and countless other PGA Tour events, Matsuyama may well feel his work is done and ultimately, take the cash and the quieter schedule.

Xander Schauffele

This one would concern the PGA Tour hierarchy.

Should LIV manage to poach the world number three, it would once again show that they not only mean business still but also, that players right in the upper-echelons of the PGA Tour are being tempted.

Schauffele has had a strange year in 2025 after winning two majors the season before and there are whispers of LIV in certain golf circles.

This one would need big money from the Saudi paymasters but they’ve done it before and may well do it again to get Schauffele.

Viktor Hovland

Another player who has been linked with a move to LIV is Viktor Hovland.

Hovland himself has spoken openly of the opportunity and you have to think that if the money came pouring in, he’d consider the switch.

The only positive for the PGA Tour here is that Hovland has yet to win a major, meaning he may not want to ruin any future chances of doing that by joining LIV.

Still, just like Matsuyama and Schauffele, this one wouldn’t be a surprise in the slightest.
