After once looking like the future of the PGA Tour and a player as close to Tiger Woods as we might see, it’s safe to say Jordan Spieth hasn’t quite carried the torch as many expected.
After racing to three major wins in his early 20s after capturing The Open in 2017, it seemed a certainty that Spieth would not only do the grand slam, but go on to make double figures in terms of major wins.
With another 13 wins on the PGA Tour, 10 of which came before we even got to 2018, Spieth seemed destined to be one of the best ever.
What do you think is the real reason why Jordan Spieth has not won on the PGA Tour since 2022?
However, Spieth has won just twice since 2017, with his last win coming all the way back in 2022 at the RBC Heritage.
And looking back at some predictions about what Spieth might accomplish, there is one standout comment that is now ringing true.
What Bob Harig said about Jordan Spieth being a hall of fame golfer
Like in any sport, we can be quick to judge golfers and put young stars in categories they might not quite be ready for.
The same happened with Spieth and at the time, his form suggested it was fair to assume he’d go on to be a legend of the game.

However, after being asked if Spieth was already a hall of fame worthy golfer all the way back in 2017, respected golf journalist Bob Harig pointed out what has now sadly come true.
“No, because if that is all he accomplishes, and that obviously seems unlikely, then his career would be judged by how he did so little after a great start,” Harig commented for ESPN.
“The numbers themselves should not be Hall of Fame calibre, but we’ve seen a lot of players go in with credentials that seem less than Hall-worthy.”
It seems, then, that unless Spieth can miraculously find something in 2026, then he is on a path to doing just what Harig predicted here.

Has Jordan Spieth’s best been and gone?
Right now, it certainly looks that way.
Zero wins in three years, niggling injuries coming into play and a frustration in his game that is obvious to see whenever he plays suggests Jordan Spieth’s prime has already happened.
However, there is some hope for him to hang onto.
How many holes do you think is the perfect number for a round of golf?
He is, after all, still only 32. That is ample time for Spieth to work on things, get past any mental blocks in place and crucially, means he is young enough to get over whatever injuries are causing him issues.
Ultimately, it is down to Spieth to put things right. We all know he has the talent but with so much quality around on the PGA Tour right now, it’s hard to see where his next win comes.
