The 2024 PGA Championship is just days away, and the first-round tee times have been announced.
The year’s second major is returning to the iconic Valhalla ten years after Rory McIlroy secured his fourth major title.
McIlroy is among the favourites this week and stands an excellent chance of ending his long wait for a third Wanamaker Trophy.
Typically dubbed the ‘toughest field in golf’, the PGA Championship has, once again, produced a stacked field this week. Below are some of the must-watch first-round groupings.
7:53 am [12:53 GMT] – Ludvig Aberg, Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas

The earliest eye-catching group to head out contains Ludvig Aberg, Xander Schauffele and Justin Thomas.
Swede Aberg produced a fine second-place finish at The Masters in April and will be looking to build on his performance at Augusta.
Schauffele will also intrigue the watching patrons after his poor final round at Quail Hollow last week. The 30-year-old will be looking to prove his critics wrong at Valhalla.
Finally, two-time PGA Championship winner Thomas will be well supported on Thursday as he returns to his hometown course. This group will no doubt have a significant crowd.
8:04 am [13:04 GMT] – Keegan Bradley, Adam Scott, Tiger Woods
The early morning tee times starting on the 10th have been stacked with big names, and they come no greater than Tiger Woods.
Alongside Keegan Bradley and Adam Scott, the 48-year-old will get his bid for major number 16 underway on the back nine at Valhalla.
Woods hasn’t been seen since he made the cut at Augusta in April.
8:15 am [13:15 GMT] – Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Justin Rose

McIlroy will start his tournament immediately after Woods on the same tee.
Ryder Cup teammate Justin Rose and LIV Golf star Dustin Johnson will join the Northern Irishman.
Valhalla should suit Johnson and McIlroy’s length, so this group could throw up some huge drives on some of the Louisville venue’s long par fours.
Furthermore, pairing McIlroy with one of the first players to head to LIV adds yet another layer of intrigue.
1:51 pm [18:51 GMT], Matthew Fitzpatrick, Phil Mickelson, Collin Morikawa
A later group, starting on the 1st, for viewers to keep an eye on involves Phil Mickelson, Collin Morikawa and Matthew Fitzpatrick.
Mickelson finished second at the 2014 tournament, nearly chipping in for an eagle on his 72nd hole to force a playoff with McIlroy.
Morikawa is another name that could be of interest. The American produced an excellent outing at Augusta and will be looking to add to his two major victories.
2:13 pm [19:13 GMT] – Wyndham Clark, Brian Harman, Scottie Scheffler

Scottie Scheffler gets his PGA Championship campaign underway on the 1st alongside Wyndham Clark and Brian Harman.
It’s a group that’s littered with recent major pedigree and will no doubt attract a large crowd due to Scheffler’s presence.
2023 U.S. Open winner Clark could be one to look out for this week. The 30-year-old is among the longer hitters on tour and could have an advantage on Valhalla’s more demanding par-fours.
