Scottie Scheffler heads into the final round of The Open Championship with a four-shot lead over Haotong Li.

Scheffler was in imperious form at Royal Portrush on Saturday, as he stretched his lead at the top of The Open leaderboard.

The world number one has looked incredibly cool and composed out on the golf course this week, and his unflappable nature is one of the reasons why he is so dominant.

Scheffler has putted exceptionally well so far at The Open, and a lot of the credit has to go to Phil Kenyon for the 29-year-old’s drastic improvement on the greens.

The American will be looking to secure his fourth major victory and his 17th PGA Tour title at Portrush on Sunday.

And if he manages to win The Open by three shots or more, he will set a new record in the modern-day era.

He has been playing at a level not seen since Tiger Woods in his prime.

And now the 29-year-old is on the cusp of setting a quite remarkable major record in the modern era.

Incredibly, Scheffler could become the first man since World War One to win his first four majors by three shots or more.

He currently has a four-shot lead, so there’s a good chance that he will be able to hold on to win by at least three.

Scheffler is so far ahead of everyone else in the game right now, and a win at The Open would further cement his place at the top of the world rankings.

Scottie Scheffler’s 2025 PGA Tour stats

When looking at Scheffler’s stats from the 2025 season so far, it’s easy to see why he has been so dominant.

Here is how his numbers look so far this year:

StatsScheffler’s rank
Strokes gained off the tee1st
Strokes gained approach1st
Strokes gained around the greens25th
Strokes gained scrambling2nd
Strokes gained putting22nd
Strokes gained total1st

If Scheffler maintains the level of consistency he has shown over the past year or so, he will have double-digit major wins to his name within the next decade.

And then he will realistically have the major tallies of Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus in his sights.
