Back in 2020, Jordan Spieth opened up on what he really felt about Bryson DeChambeau’s ability on the golf course.
Spieth was incredibly successful during a two-year spell from 2015 through to 2017, but DeChambeau has enjoyed far more success over the past five years.
The PGA Tour star is without a win in just over three years, whilst he hasn’t triumphed at a major since his victory at The Open in 2017.
Meanwhile, the LIV golfer has won two US Open titles since 2020 and has three LIV wins to his name in the last two years.
There is huge mutual respect between both golfers.
Back in 2018, Spieth said he would love to play with DeChambeau at the Ryder Cup.
We might just get to see that at Bethpage Black in September, if Spieth is able to force his way into the team of course.
Jordan Spieth once revealed what he really thought about Bryson DeChambeau
DeChambeau was, and still is, a pioneer in the game when it comes to long hitting off the tee.

He took swings speeds, ball speeds and carry distances to a whole new level back in 2020 when he bulked up in the gym before overpowering Winged Foot to win the US Open.
And just a few months after that incredible victory, Spieth explained what struck him about DeChambeau, whilst watching the LIV Golfer perform on television.
“I remember talking to Justin [Thomas] and Rory [McIlroy] about this at lunch one day,” he said. “We were sitting having lunch and watching the telecast and they were showing Bryson. I was like, this guy has to lose the Masters to not win the Masters.
“If you’re hitting it straight and you’re hitting it far, it obviously should be a massive advantage.“
DeChambeau challenged for The Masters this year, before falling away on the final day. He finished T-6th and T-5th in his last two visits to Augusta National.
Like Spieth says, it probably will just be a matter of time before DeChambeau wins The Masters. However, he needs to sharpen up his approach play if he is ever to get his hands on a green jacket.
Who is longer out of Bryson DeChambeau and Aldrich Potgieter
There’s a new sheriff in town, so to speak. Or is there?
Aldrich Potgieter burst onto the scene on the PGA Tour this season and his immense power off the tee has led to comparisons with DeChambeau.
The big South African has clocked a 196 mph ball speed in competition this season, but it’s worth remembering that DeChambeau got his ball speed up to 199.5 mph when playing on the PGA Tour during the 2020/21 season (PGA Tour official website).
His record outside of tournament play is 221 mph, so it’s obvious to see that he doesn’t go at drives as hard as he could when he’s playing in professional tournaments.
Whilst it’s impossible to say who’s longer unless they both go face to face in a long drive contest, it’s fair to argue that DeChambeau has more power in reserve than Potgieter.
The two-time US Open champion has definitely reined in his swing speed when playing in competitions.
Wouldn’t it be great to see the duo paired together in one of the majors in the near future!
