Tiger Woods has dominated at certain venues throughout his career, and the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village is certainly one of them.

Woods has five wins at the Memorial Tournament to his name – more than any other player.

Jack Nicklaus is set to welcome the golfing elite to his course in Dublin, Ohio, this week for what should be another thrilling tournament to watch for fans.

Woods shares so much in common with Nicklaus. The pair sit at number one and two on the list of all-time majors won, with 18 for Jack and 15 for Tiger.

Nicklaus described Woods as phenomenal after he won the Memorial Tournament way back in 1999.

And in return, Woods has suggested that he always looked up to Nicklaus.

The two players have always shared a close bond, and it’s little wonder that the 49-year-old has enjoyed playing the Memorial Tournament so much throughout his career.

However, the 49-year-old will unfortunately not be at ‘Jack’s Place’ this year.

That said, Woods has already created enough memories at Muirfield Village to last a lifetime.

Tiger Woods managed to wow himself at the 2004 Memorial Tournament

Woods has earned more money than any other player in the history of the game at Memorial.

He has certainly made Jack’s place his own from the late 90s up until his last win there in 2012.

However, one of Woods’ most memorable moments at Muirfield Village came back in 2004, when he didn’t even win the event.

Ernie Els emerged victorious that year, winning by six shots from third-placed Woods.

Despite Els winning the event, Woods produced a moment of magic during his final round that made everyone gasp in amazement…even himself!

After hitting his tee shot on the 14th hole into the water, Woods missed the green long and left with his third.

The 15-time major winner was left in no-man’s land. He had to hit a miracle shot just to keep the ball on the green, let alone leave himself with a realistic chance of making par.

However, Woods did even better than that. In fact, he hit the perfect shot, one that still lives strong in the memory of golf fans.

Anyone who has played Muirfield Village, or watched the Memorial Tournament on TV, knows how difficult that shot was but Woods made it look easy.

What Jack Nicklaus said will happen when Tiger Woods returns to golf

Woods has been plagued by a whole host of different injuries since his US Open win at Torrey Pines in 2008.

The latest problem he suffered was rupturing his Achilles’ tendon in March.

Golf fans are desperate to see him back in action sooner rather than later.

And back in April, Nicklaus said he thinks Woods will return to dominate senior golf very soon indeed.

“Tiger is hurt. I think Tiger will get well and Tiger will be back and play,” said the Golden Bear. “Tiger will be 50 next year (sic). I believe he’ll probably play the Senior Tour and I believe he’ll probably dominate the Senior Tour.

“Tiger is too much of a competitor to not play. I don’t believe he will not play. I believe he will play. I don’t think Tiger will play for money. He doesn’t need money.

“Tiger will play for competition. He loves competition, and he’s very good at it, obviously.”

Nicklaus is spot on about Woods there. He is a fierce competitor, and that fire in his belly will surely never diminish.

It’s just such a shame that we won’t see Woods playing the Memorial Tournament this year. Hopefully he’s fully recovered by the time the event rolls around again in 2026.
