It’s not always plain sailing for young and up and coming PGA Tour stars, even when they make headlines by making the cut on their PGA Tour debuts like Tadd Fujikawa did.

With all eyes on the emergence of Mao Matsuyama over this current week at the Sony Open, talk of young players coming through in the game has once again been a hot topic of conversation.

Matsuyama is a 16-year-old golfer from Japan who is keen to follow in the footsteps of his idol and current PGA star, Hideki Matsuyama.

However, Matsuyama is not the only teenager to make a splash on the PGA Tour through the years and looking back to Tadd Fujikawa’s effort from 2009, it just goes to show how things don’t always pan out.

What Tadd Fujikawa is now doing after making the cut as a teenager on the PGA Tour

According to Golf journalist Adam Schupak, the now 34-year-old Tadd Fujikawa is not involved in the game at all anymore. In fact, Fujikawa has taken a step away from golf and is now involved in another sport.

Shared via his social media profile on X, Schupak reveals that Fujikawa is actually now a Pickle Ball coach and remarkably, hasn’t picked a golf club up for three years.

Tadd Fujikawa’s PGA Tour career in numbers

Tadd Fujikawa is actually the fourth youngest player to ever play in a PGA Tour event and had the Sony Open in 2007 been held a week prior, he would still have been just 15.

Indeed, he’d actually qualified for the US Open at just 15 the year prior.

Remarkably, Fujikawa finished in a tie for 20th during that 2007 Sony Open as he caught the eye with some outstanding golf.

Two years later, Fujikawa shot a brilliant round of 62 at the same tournament to go within two shots of the lead and setting a course record in the process at the time. In the end, he dropped back, carding a final round 73 to finish 32nd.

In the end, the Hawaiian star had a short PGA career, competing in just the 15 events and making the cut in just five of those.

In fact, his best ever performance came in his final appearance in the Sony in 2012 where he managed a more than respectable 19th.
