With the 2026 season about to start, many will be struggling to stop themselves from predicting the players who will go on and win the four majors over the next 12 months.
The 2025 season saw the two best players in the world dominate the majors. Rory McIlroy completed the Career Grand Slam at The Masters, while Scottie Scheffler won both the PGA Championship and The Open Championship.
Clearly, it is going to take something special to stop Scheffler and McIlroy this year.
The winners of the four majors in 2026 will be…
Let us know who you are backing to triumph in next year's biggest events
But there is one player who has reason to think that he has a great opportunity to secure his first major victory this year.
Not only does he hold the course record at two of the venues, but he also has a special connection with another.
The player who holds the course record at two of 2026’s major venues
Of course, if most were told that Tommy Fleetwood held the course record at one of the venues hosting the majors in 2026, it is likely that their immediate thoughts would turn to Royal Birkdale.
The Englishman used to live nearby and would sneak onto the course as a youngster. He finished tied for 27th when it hosted The Open Championship in 2017.
But it turns out that it is the courses hosting the PGA Championship and the US Open where Fleetwood holds the records.

For those wondering, Branden Grace shot 62 around Fleetwood’s home course in 2017.
Aronimink in Pennsylvania will host the second major of the year. Fleetwood is one of five players to have shot 62 there in the past. Nick Watney, Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Kevin Na make up the quintet.
Fleetwood is, however, the only player to have done it twice. Both of his 62s came during the 2018 BMW Championship. He actually finished the week tied for eighth after underwhelming first and final rounds.
Meanwhile, Fleetwood shot 63 in the final round of the 2018 US Open at Shinnecock Hills. He actually came agonisingly close to posting a 62, but missed a short putt on the last.
He ended up finishing second.
Why Tommy Fleetwood is ready to take that final step and become a major champion
Obviously, it is some time since those records were set. Both courses will have undergone changes.
But Fleetwood is a much better player than he was in 2018. And he has now silenced those who doubted whether he could ever win on the PGA Tour by clinching the Tour Championship last year.
Who do you think could be the PGA Tour’s breakout star of 2026?
There are plenty of hugely talented young players…
It appears that the timing could not be better for Fleetwood to now take that next step and become a major champion.
Having said all that, it will probably now be at The Masters where Fleetwood emerges victorious.
It is hard to imagine that he will have any complaints with that.
