Some players just know how to get the job done in big PGA Tour events and during major championships.
Meanwhile, other PGA Tour players go through their careers always falling at the final hurdle in the biggest and most prestigious championships.
It is not easy at all to win on the PGA Tour. Many great golfers have never triumphed on the biggest stage in America, Tommy Fleetwood included.
Scottie Scheffler has been the dominant force on the PGA Tour over the past couple of years.
However, there was a really exciting player coming through the ranks a decade ago – one who many believed would go on to enjoy his own period of dominance.
He won three huge tournaments, but never really lived up to his outstanding potential in the end.
Martin Kaymer’s incredible PGA Tour record
German star Martin Kaymer only has three PGA Tour wins to his name. However, his collection of trophies will be the envy of many of his peers.
Kaymer, now 40, won the PGA Championship in 2010 and The Players Championship in May 2014 before triumphing at The US Open at Pinehurst No.2 just one month later.

The LIV Golf star won The US Open by a whopping eight strokes 11 years ago.
It was one of the most dominant performances we have seen in a major championship since Tiger Woods’ heyday.
It’s utterly bizarre that he never won a PGA Tour event outside of his two major triumphs and at The Players.
A man of Kaymer’s calibre should really have racked up double-digit wins on the PGA Tour, and one of the main reasons why he didn’t do that was the fact that he tinkered with his game while he was at the peak of his powers.
Martin Kaymer’s career record on the PGA Tour
It’s worth noting that Kaymer does have 11 DP World Tour wins to his name, so he is a prolific winner across the other side of the Atlantic.
However, his PGA Tour record aside from his three monumental victories is fairly poor.
Here are his numbers NOT INCLUDING his two major wins and his Players Championship victory:
| Results | Kaymer’s totals |
| Events played | 153 |
| Wins | 0 |
| Top-5s | 5 |
| Top-10s | 15 |
| Missed cuts | 45 |
Kaymer famously tried to change the shape of his shots from a fade to a draw in order to contend at The Masters in 2015, and he has never been the same player since.
If the German is ever to return to his best, he needs to go back to basics and remember what made him so good in the first place.
