After the past two weeks on the PGA Tour, professional players all over the globe have been given genuine hope for the future.

The PGA Tour is still the biggest and most prestigious competitive platform on the planet for professional golfers, in spite of LIV Golf‘s attempts to upset the applecart.

There has been real excitement on the PGA Tour this season, with a variety of different winners and the usual suspects like Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy continuing to enjoy sustained success.

The golfing landscape is still very much in the air right now, with the PGA Tour and LIV continuing to try to reach an agreement regarding a potential merger.

However, there are some PGA Tour players who simply don’t want the LIV guys back.

Nobody actually knows what the future holds. However, something has happened during the past two weeks on the PGA Tour that should fill every single player with real hope.

Golf is the big winner after the last two weeks on the PGA Tour

Brian Campbell tasted victory for the second time on the PGA Tour this season with his win at the John Deere Classic on Sunday.

It was a tremendous victory for Campbell – one that came completely out of the blue given his recent form.

Meanwhile, Aldrich Potgieter reigned victorious last week in Detroit at the Rocket Classic.

Ironically, the American and the South African squared off against each other in a sudden death play-off at the Mexico Open back in February.

Potgieter made history on the PGA Tour at the Rocket Classic by becoming just the fifth player from outside of the United States to win before his 20th birthday.

Campbell and Potgieter are obviously both extremely talented golfers – they wouldn’t be playing on the PGA Tour if they weren’t.

However, their playing styles could not be more different, and it’s worth remembering that high profile players like Tommy Fleetwood and Cameron Young are still yet to taste victory on the PGA Tour.

The fact that Campbell and Potgieter got the job done over the past two weeks with completely different styles should give great hope to everyone trying to get their first win on the PGA Tour.

Driving stats compared: Aldrich Potgieter vs Brian Campbell

Incredibly, Potgieter has averaged more than 50 yards longer than Campbell off the tee this season.

Here is how their respective driving numbers look in 2025:

2025 driving statsAldrich PotgieterBrian Campbell
Average driving distance328.0 yards276.6 yards
Average ball speed190.15 mph161.3 mph
Average clubhead speed125.77 mph108.37 mph

The fact that the two players are completely different golfers, and have both been successful on the PGA Tour this season should give every aspirational tour player real hope.

You don’t need to drive the ball long to win, and you don’t need to hit more than 60% of fairways either.

Getting the ball in the hole is all that really matters, and Potgieter and Campbell have both proven that there is more than one way to cook an egg on the PGA Tour.
