Cameron Young cut a hugely frustrated figure during round three of the Travelers Championship.

Young shot a round of one-over par 71 to drop back into a tie for 42nd at the Travelers Championship on Saturday.

The 28-year-old has history with anger problems on the golf course, and his temperament often is the source of his failure to get over the line and win.

Young shared his anger with reporters at the Canadian Open two weeks ago, after missing out on the play-off by one shot.

And then Young had an animated disagreement with rules officials at the US Open the week after.

The man from Scarborough, New York, is without a win in 90 PGA Tour starts.

Perhaps he needs to rein in his temper before he can even think about being victorious on tour.

Golf fans react to Cameron Young’s angry outburst at the Travelers

Young began the week at TPC River Highlands in fine form, with a round of five-under-par 65.

However, he has slid down the the leaderboard since then, and now finds himself sitting on one-under par for the tournament.

On the 16th tee on Saturday, Young hit a poor approach into the green, and took his anger out on the golf course.

Numerous golf fans took to social media to share their dismay at the PGA Tour player’s poor behaviour.

One golf fan simply said, What is it with all of the temper tantrums lately?

Whilst another mocked Young’s swing and his angry outburst, When the swing was bad but the tantrum had great tempo.

Meanwhile, a third fan shared his anger, Can’t stand the tantrums that are going on in golf right now. You are getting paid to play a sport. Act like a pro.

A fourth golf fan said, They need to penalize them by removing the club from the bag for the rest of the competition. Plus fines and if needed suspensions. This has no place in the game.

A fifth suggested that he wouldn’t want to play alongside Young, Dude seems like one of the most miserable people to play golf with.

Whilst a sixth golf fan had a personal experience of following the 28-year-old, Followed him some in a KFT event. Constant swearing, just seething. Most miserable pro golfer I have ever seen in person. He won by like 5.

Meanwhile, a seventh fan didn’t hold back with his criticism, At what point is the PGA and the USGA going to sanction these entitled morons? Rory Mcllroy should have been disqualified last week! What message does this send juniors? Idiots.

While another fan called for change, This behaviour on tour needs to end. I’m nowhere as good as these guys, and I let bad shots roll off like water off my back. Suspend them if they have to.

The fans are right. Behaviour like that has no place on the golf course, and the example Young is setting for the next generation of players is a terrible one.

Cameron Young’s PGA Tour record

Young has definitely been a really consistent performer on the PGA Tour in general over the past few years.

However, he hasn’t done enough to win yet.

Events played90
Wins0
Runner ups7

Missed cuts70

That is a very impressive record on the whole, aside from the one glaring omission.

When the pressure cranks up, his putting sometimes lets him down. However, perhaps his anger issues are actually holding him back.

Young’s behaviour at the Travelers on Saturday was unacceptable, and it was the latest example in a long line of on-course outbursts from some of the best players in the world.
